Library land overload

leave a comment »

Today, after spending all day cataloging library books, I left work and went to my local public library where I had This Book is Overdue on hold. It’s a book about librarians, which I’ve read about in several library blogs and tweets, and was recommended by my library science professor – who is mentioned in the book. Then I went to a bar to meet up with a couple of librarian friends. It is possible that I may be spending a bit too much time in library land. But I love it!

Authorities

I feel like I spent my entire afternoon doing name authorities at work today. I ended up submitting 8 in all, but about half of them were for one DVD box set. Ugh. It’s kind of fun, though, doing all that digging and searching to find people.Except abridgers. It’s practically impossible to find any sort of information online about that guy who abridged that one audiobook 5 years ago. I think there should be a rule that anyone who abridges a book should have to have a unique name so they’re easier to establish.
